The Wrong Place
I hit him in the head with my stick. He goes, night, night. Sleepyby. I take a look around. What a dump. It's my place. The punk tried to break in. Big mistake. His last.

Have you read your writing and examined what image you are projecting?
That of a tough killer, the center of a lot of attention.
If that sells or makes you feel good, okay.
But if you care to get some good vibes in your head, get a different neural "frequency" going, maybe write something lovely, something were you aren't the hero killing others.
If you have to be the center of the book, first person, don't be a killer or someone who inflicts pain. Better yet, don't be the center of the book, if you want better frequency.
Have someone else be the center. Have that character be gracious, real, with doubts and compassion, and concern for what's true.
Better than therapy.
It's as close to magic as you can get to, with your clothes on
